Loading ...Ubuntu Installation…?
Hi, I wanted to install ubuntu so i downloaded the iso and then i burned it to a cd and all but now when I put the cd to boot then nothing happens, only windows boots up.
My Bios is all set up correctly and I am running a P4-2.4 Ghz Comp. I just can’t get the damn CD to boot.
If it is possiblye can you pls give me the directory structure of the CD? I mean the way the files are in the main directory of the CD and what size they have? This would be helpfull!
Pls help!

Anyways, my BF is very knowledgeable in this, so I’ll ask him when he gets home from his other job (we have our own biz doing stuff like this, but he also works a part time gig too).

This problem may not have anything to do with your setup, or the .iso.
What you described is a common heard complaint, and it may simply be that the brand of CD that you used isn’t working with your burner. If you have any other brands handy try using one of them.
(I’m a firm believer in beginning with the simplest solutions and working up from there.)

A. – You probably have recorded the .iso file to CD as a file, not as a CD image. The .iso file is a CD image and needs to be recorded as such. If you burn it as a regular file, the resulting CD will not work. Try opening the CD in any computer. You should see a few files and directories. If you see “ubuntu-xxxxx-xxxxx.iso” as the only file in the CD instead, you haven’t correctly created the CD. Look for the ‘Write CD image’ or similar option of your favourite CD creation program and use it to record the .iso file to CD. Reboot and enjoy!

This is off my Ubuntu 5.10 Disc.. I’ll only name the Folders directly under my D: drive.

All of them are folders except the last 3.

I can think of 2 things that need to be checked.
1. Do other “live” CD/DVDs autoboot in your pc?
2. Will the CD you created autoboot in another pc?
This should tell you in which area your problem lies.

When you burn the cd you have to burn it as an image or iso depending on your cd burning program . If you just copy the file or burn it as a data cd it doesn’t work. If you did it right you put the disk in your cd drive and reboot. Good luck & have fun.
