I recently installed ubuntu on a computer and cant install any software to it. I cant get on the internet because the computer I’m using uses a WEP and it wont install the software for the card, I’m using so I’m stuck, it looks cool, but I cant get it to work, do I need something else? Thanks in advance for any help rendered.

How do I get Ubuntu and my Netgear WG511T wirelss card to connect to my wireless network using WPA? Help! It works fine in windows, but I’m sick of windows and really want to switch to Ubuntu. I tried it, but couldn’t get on my home network. I don’t want to go back to WEP for obvious reasons.
Laptop Internet Card: Netgear WG511T wirelss card
Router: D-Link DI-624
Security: WPA
Cipher: AES (PSK)

Crack WEP easily following this tutorial.

The wireless card used was a bcm4311 by Broadcom. This isn’t the best card out there, not even close, but it proves that with correct patching for injection support, anything is possible.

The network cracked belongs to me, and is WEP40. (10 char key)
128bit requires much more packets in order to crack. It doesn’t take too long though.

As per distance, I was about 25 meters away from the access point itself.
