How do you format a new hard drive in Linux.?
I purchased a new seagate 250 GB SATA hard drive and placed in an adaptec usb enclosure and I could see the drive when i connected but could not use it because fedora core did not recognize it.

Best Practice Partition setup?
I am planning on building a new computer with three SATA drives. I am also planning to use Windows (XP or Vista) and Ubuntu Linux. What would be the best way to do this?
I envisioned putting Windows on one drive, Ubuntu on another drive, and have the third disk as a share for all my Media, possibly making that drive the biggest drive (500mb+).
Then there is the possibility of putting a windows swap partition on that third drive as well.
What do you think?

How do I install Windows XP (to replace) on a laptop running Linux Mandriva?
I’ve changed the boot order to Optical drive “first” so that it boots from the WinXP CD in the drive, that didn’t work -it simply booted into Mandriva. I also tried it with SATA “disabled”, then with SATA “enabled”…either way, the laptop just kept ignoring the WinXP CD and booted into Mandriva. Can someone help out, I absolutely hate Mndriva (while I love Ubuntu and Fedora). Thanx.
