How to install Debian Linux?
My computer is saying that my CD is not the proper CD for Debian installation (this is after booting with a floppy). Obviously this CD that I burnt myself that supposedly has all the installation files needed, the debian boot doesn’t recognize it properly. I was wondering if someone could show me what a debian root cd should look like. (what folders are in it, what files, etc)
Great, I’m getting somewhere. Now another thing is, what image to i use to convert it to a bootable cd?
slackware freezes, yes it does?
I installed slackware completely, and have done the xorgsetup. When I log in as root, I type “startx” it does start the GUI for the most part. It first loads the HDD, settings, the net globe, but as soon as it starts to load the desktop icon, it FREEZES. So I’m stuck with the screen showing a box with those 4 icons loading, with it totally frozen. I’ve waited about 5 minutes just in case, already, just in case it’s because it’s an old computer. No luck. So what is going on?

Mount point for root, usr, and var. How much space for each?
I am installing FreeBSD on my system. I want to know if there is a standard for each of these mount points. I know that /usr is going to be the remaining (and largest) but how much space do I give to the root and /var?
