I’ve tried even booting from cd’s (Windows xp recovery disks, openSUSE live cd, Mandriva disk). nothing happens…
this problem came about right when i restarted my computer to finish off mandriva’s installation… i don’t know what to do!

I have an HP Pavilion desktop with Windows Vista with recovery disks. I want to install Debian in addition to Vista (dual boot), so I have to make two partitions in my hard drive. I am not sure how to do that using the recovery disks that I have! If I can’t do it using the recovery disks, what other method should I follow?

i accedentally uninstalled vista and got openSUSE which i didnt do umpmrpose…please help!

I installed OpenSuse Linux 11.1 on my hard drive, and the installer set aside a large chunk of the hard drive for windows. After installing linux and restarting, windows was no longer a boot option (under grub). Also, the partition for windows was no longer readable. I tried to recover the data using data recovery software without any luck. From another windows machine the recovery software says that it cannot read the data.

I just bought new HP laptop. Didn’t know they have their own special version of windows os AND that they don’t ship recovery cd’s anymore but expect you to make your own from the HD partition that I deleted by accident.

Anyone have an HP version (not sure how you’d tell unless you have also just bought an HP laptop) of win MCE that you could send me?

thought i’d take a shot….perhaps another os that runs on HP systems? a hack for the bios?

anything to make it run so i can connect to the internet! also, can i install fedora core on it? it has an amd turion dual core.
