what is the best linux distro to installl on a Playstation 3?

I’ve done some researches and i found that Yellow Dog linux was designed for ps3 but i’ve heard complaints about there are no codecs installed due to licensing issues with the free distribution of Linux and the codecs can be obtaineb but they’re not free.

Other suggestions are Ubuntu,OpenSuse,Fedora,Gentoo.

Can you please help me choose an easy, simple and work-best on PS3 platform because i’m a compete noob on this whole Linux thing. Thanks a lot

Linux for Playstation 3?

Hello!

I am all set to install openSUSE 10.2 PPC for my PS3, but I have one issue with one possible solution. I have a ton of saved data on my PS3, and I don’t want to erase my hard drive to create another partition. However, I do have Acronis Partitioning software (which I can boot my computer from) and a spare computer. What I want to do is to take the hard drive out of my PS3, put it in the spare computer, and resize my existing partition on the hard disk so Linux can create its own partition on the PS3. I just want to make sure it will not destroy the data.

Thanks.
