Linux troubles…?
I have the Ubuntu live CD. I want to install it. It says that I need to partition the disk. My options are:
•Resize IDE1 master, partition #1 (hda1) and use free space
•Erase entire disk: IDE1 master (hda) – 60.1 GB
•Use the largest continous freespace
•Manually edit partition table
Which should I do?
I never use my computer as it does not have an internet connection. Therefore it has very little data on it. The first option takes forever. I really don’t want to erase everything if I don’t have to. But I will, if it is needed.

Is it safe to run Ubuntu of a partition set up on an external hard-drive?
Hi,
I can’t wait to install Ubuntu onto my computer but due to the limited hard-drive space available on my laptop I was hoping to set up a partition on my external hard-drive and install Ubuntu of that…
Will that work, will it give me dual-boot options every time I start up the computer? All answers appreciated
How can I restore the partition space given to linux?
I’ve installed both XP and Mandriva on my laptop. The D: driver had 100G overall and I gave 80G to linux. Now I wan’t to install Ubuntu and remove mandriva. How can I restore the space to XP? I tried partitionmagic, Acronis and a bunch of other tools, but didn’t work.
I know ubuntu recognizes the linux partition but I want to restore it to XP then give it to ubuntu.
I have a PC dualbooting with Windows 2000 and Ubuntu, using GRUB. I’d like to replace 2000 with XP Home – how?
I know there is a certain order of installing the OSs and that I cannot simply upgrade Windows 2000 to Windows XP Home (you can only upgrade 2000 to Windows XP Professional). I’m prepared to format the partition that Windows 2000 currently resides on, if necessary.
