How can I fix my computer that won’t boot after BIOS check?
I have a custom built machine with specs:
WDC WD80JB
Maxtor PY160P0
Sony DVD RW
LITE-ON CD-ROM LTN-487T
ECS nForce6m-a
2GB Corsair DDR2 RAM @ 800MHz
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4000+ 2.11 GHz (Rate @ 6.00GHz)
Logitech 101/102-key keyboard
Logitech Serial Mouse
Microsoft PS/2 & USB Scrolling Mice
IBM 2115 (15R MS) 15″ CRT
Acer Al1917W 19″ WideScreen LCD
Antec 900 computer case
Corsair PSU 520W
HP DeskJet F4135 All-in-One P/S/C
P = Printer
C = Copier
S = Scanner
The screen says:
“Verifying DMI pool data …………………..
Error no operating system
BOOT DISK FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.”
OS installed:
Windows XP Home Edition Sp3
OpenSuSE 11.1 64-bit GNOME
What is the problem? And how can I fix this, besides sending it to a computer store?
Buy a new Hard Drive?
Thanks in advance.
Benjamin Wilson
edit: my computer had a boot flag problem. I just re-installed OpenSuSE 11.1 64-bit GNOME on my HDD, and I almost forgot one PC spec:
Silicon Sil 0680 SCSI Controller Card (IDE-PCI)
Thanks for all the help.

how does one boot up from a cd-rom drive on a mac g3?
i know i need to upgrade the machine, but until i do i can’t get the mac to boot up from the cd-rom even when there is a bootable disk..
i have tried holdin down the “c” key but that did not owrk then i tried a couple of times “ctrl-option-shift-delete”
but that did not worked either… i even swapped the cd drive with a known working aopple cd rom drive……just for those who are curious i am installing xubuntu 6.10 or ubuntu for mac 6.06
i know that these os work on a mac cauase i have done it before but i for some reason cannot get this one to work…. it only wants to boot to the harddrive.
