What is the main difference between KDE, Xfce, and GNOME GUI’s?
Can anyone tell me the difference between GNOME,KDE,and Xfce GUI’s? Also can you give me a list of the popular Distro’s in which these are used. I know Ubuntu and Debian (because Ubuntu is merely a Debian offshoot) use GNOME, but not much more. What does Redhat use?
Can I boot from an External HD?
I know some people can…but I don’t know if my BIOS is new enough…When I go the the settings for the my BIOS, USB isn’t in the list of things I can boot from, but I have a pretty new computer, I really thought it would work. I have an HP a6317c, does anyone know if it’ll work?
P.S. Planning to install Debian to a USB HD, I know how and everything…just have to remember to tell it to put GRUB on HD 1 instead of 0.

How to install/configure input methods for Debian Etch?
I tried installing some of them, but it never appeared on the list of input methods. I installed canna, scim-canna, scim-chewing, and all other scim packages, using apt-get. is there a proper way, or a alternate way that I can install or configure the input methods so they can be usable?
on my ubuntu laptop i turned it on and it wouldnt start up instead, came up with this ( see details below)?

how do I change the file association in mozilla firefox?
I am running firefox in linux mandriva. I can’t change the file assocations because the list of file types under Preferences is empty! How do I fix this problem? It is annoying to save icons to the desktop and then open them…
