I tried installing Fedora core 6 on my laptop, but then “Kernel Panic – syncing stop” popped up and it stopped booting. I’m pretty sure I got the right one(x86_64) for an AMD Turion 64.

After installing Fedora Core 6, I get an error “sync out of range”. I have nVidia 7300GT PCI Express, P4 3.06 GHz, D102Gcc Intel Express Chipset, 1GB DDR2 533 MHz, Samsung 793s 17″ Monitor. I believe the problem is with the graphics card. I am an Linux novice. Help me please.

When the grub loads, i select windows xp. when the loading of xp is over and the blue screen comes I get this error message:
1. xmnt2002 program not found skipping autochk
2. autochk – program not found skipping autochk

and when I try to use the repair option (boot from the xp cd) it says unable to repair and install on the selected partition.

The partition table shows the following for c: drive (xp drive) :
c: partition 1 Inactive OS/2 Boot man 3215(mb)

pls. help

I have a 300GB Hard disk. I already partitioned 200 GB for Windows (NTFS). What’s the best way to partition the remaining space for Linux (I’ll be installing Fedora Core 4)? Is Partition Magic the way to go? Do you know of any good websites that walk you through this stuff?

Also, I want to use 50 GB for the partition, and save 50 GB for another Linux version.
My power supply only allows for one Hard disk and one DVD_RW drive, so the extra hard disk thing would be a pain.

I just wanted to know if there was any need to install anti-virus and spyware software for Fedora? If so, where can I find it?
I just switched over from Windows, and I am very excited…
But I am also trying to be careful
