I’ve recently received a laptop from a friend that runs on Linux. I want to download Yahoo Messenger onto my laptop, but I can’t install .exe files. I looked around on the internet and found out you could install a program called Wine that would run .exe files. I want to know if this is safe for my computer and if not, is there a safer way to install .exe files? Also, when I tried to download Wine, it did not list what type of Linux I have. I believe I have Mint and it listed items such as; Redhat, Ubuntu, Mandriva, Debian, SUSE, Slackware, FreeBSD, PC-BSD, Solaris 10, and OpenSolaris.

I have downloaded the Debian image file from a mirror download. Should i burn this to as bootable CD/DVD or just a normal CD/DVD?

And whats the terminal command.
