How do I uninstall linux Mandriva?

I have Linux Mandriva dual booting with Windows Vista on my laptop and I want to uninstall Mandriva so I can install Ubuntu. I’ve read similar questions to this and a lot of them said I need a boot CD. Well I only have system recovery discs that came with my computer. I also saw that I could use the Win98 boot Floppy disc. Well my laptop doesn’t have a floppy disc drive – is there anywhere I can get it on CD? Where do I get that? It would also help if you could mention the steps to uninstall it like the commands to type, etc. Thank you so much if you answer.

How do I shrink a hard drive partition?

I am looking for a freeware program that I can use to shrink a hard disk partition that already has Windows XP home and other programs already installed. I want to shrink the partition so that I can intall Linux Fedora as a dual boot.

How much space is good for Linux so that I can install both the O/S and have plenty of room to install other programs? Would 10 GB be ok?

Also, what is the success rate of shrinking a partition? I don’t have any files on that hard drive that I cannot replace but I am just wondering how safe it is on preserving the data that is already there.

Installing openSUSE 10.3 with a Vista partition along to its side?

Is it possible to install SUSE on a second partition and leave the Vista partition intact yet be able to dual boot?

Ubuntu Installation…?

Hi, I wanted to install ubuntu so i downloaded the iso and then i burned it to a cd and all but now when I put the cd to boot then nothing happens, only windows boots up.
My Bios is all set up correctly and I am running a P4-2.4 Ghz Comp. I just can’t get the damn CD to boot.
If it is possiblye can you pls give me the directory structure of the CD? I mean the way the files are in the main directory of the CD and what size they have? This would be helpfull!

Pls help!

Thanks in advance! :)

How can I get a Proliant DL 320 to boot from SATA controller card?

I have a G1 Compaq Proliant DL320. It has SCSI controller and IDE controller built in, but I’d like to use SATA drives in it. I installed a new SATA card in it and the most recent BIOS. The system sees the card and will put it first in the boot order. I can format the drive during Setup and can install an OS to it (FreeBSD). However, I cannot boot from the drive. I select the controller and drive in setup, but it never gets booted from. What am I missing?
Jerry – thanks for that idea – unfortunately didn’t work in this case.
