Loading ...Best unix os to learn from?
Hi.I have been using linux for a while but I don’t feel like I accomplished anything.
I want to learn linux/unix and I have been wondering:
WHat is the best unix distro to learn?
Slackware,Bsd,debian,gentoo,arch,etc,etc
But I am not yet ready for linux from scratch so no thank you.

Try PCLinuxOS.com you can customize it the way you want and build a remaster. Some of the customizing means getting into the nitty gritty such as boot screens and animations, desktop and software and such. If you haven’t tried it, give it a go.

To really learn *nix, try doing as much as possible from a terminal window. Use the web or a *nix book for help. The distro doesn’t really matter – you want to learn *nix, not a particular Linux distro.

Arch read the arch install guide its very good and will teach you allot than throw arch away and Install something with a large community and a long service cycle
