Actually there may be a solution for this. I say *may* because you are wanting to run a game and success will depend on it's requirements and the kind of system you have. You also need to have a valid copy of Win-XP to install.
SOLUTION: You can set-up VirtualBox on your ubuntu installed system and run Win-XP as a guest OS. To run your game and Yahoo messenger, you simply launch the Win-XP virtual machine and run the programs as you normally would. This technique allows you to run ubuntu and XP side-by-side on your desktop without the delays and disruption of dual-boot alternatives.
Take a look at the following link for a tutorial on VirtualBox on ubuntu:

After you get the guest OS set-up and operating, you will install your game software {install CD?} as you would on your old XP system. The same for Yahoo messenger. If you install VirtualBox correctly, you will have full internet access, functioning sound system and CD-ROM Drive on the XP virtual machine. Naturally, you need to have adequate CPU, RAM and HD space to make this work.
On a personal note, I am running Win-2k-Pro under VirtualBox on my MCNLive {http://www.mcnlive.org/ …which comes with VirtualBox installed & configured}based system. I am using it to run Masque 'Slots' {http://www.masque.com/} and TextAloud "text to speech" program using ATT Natural Voices. Both work great.

Unfortunately you need to run WINE each time.
As good as Linux is, this is one of the major hang ups which puts many people off using it, this is sad as apart from annoying things such as this it is a fine operating platform.
